There’s something to fairytales that have always intrigued me. Maybe it’s because they remind me of my childhood when my sister and I would watch all of Disney’s greatest from Snow White to Cinderella and play out the stories of these beautiful princesses and their happily ever afters. When you’re young though, you see the movies for what they are with glass slippers and pumpkins and not for what they are trying to teach about life and love. But as you grow older, people say that the magic of these stories fade away as you come to realize that mice can’t really speak and birds can’t really pick out your clothes. Yet, it’s quite the contrary though, because to me, if you go back and look at these stories, fairytales become even more prevalent as a symbol of what could be. The messages of these movies are more than getting the right Prince Charming to come your way– if you look closely, fairytales are there to inspire hope, give courage, and strength to show you to always dream big.
While it seems like I’m going off on a tangent, this whole fairytale fantasy came from today’s look that made me feel like a floral princess in a dream. The dress is from one of my all-time favorite new obsessions from London called jones+jones to which I paired with a simple floral headband and heels. There’s something about what pictures can say with a story without having to say much else at all. And when going through the pictures from this shoot, I felt like it was the story and symbol of a modern day fairytale. We’re all looking for the answers in life that are still lingering in our head and we’re all hoping to simply have those happily ever- afters in whatever it may be we’re searching for. And at least to me, today’s outfit and shoot was a glimpsing symbol and hope that if you strive for the best (and believe in fairytales), anything that you wish can come true.
