This past weekend was my birthday! (and for those following me on Instagram @iamfashionlaine, I’m pretty sure that was no secret). With every great birthday has to come a great birthday celebration– which to me involves themes, coordinated outfits, and some type of headband (of course). When I was younger, I was all about the big birthday parties, inviting every person I knew and had ever spoken to come out and celebrate my big day. But as I have gotten older, I’ve come to appreciate the idea of simplicity much more. To me, birthdays have become things to celebrate with those closest to you and to take in the day with people who have made the year worthwhile.
So this year was definitely no exception with probably the most perfect birthday I could have ever imagined which involved spending a beautiful Sunday brunch at one of my ultimate favorite restaurants in Los Angeles– Fig & Olive. Of course, everything I do has to have a theme behind it, so this year, my theme was Alice In Wonderland where I was able to transform Fig & Olive’s gorgeous backdoor patio into my own little Wonderland world. Setting up the tables with whimsical and iconic tea party pieces from oversized tea cups to little Mad Hatter hats, I felt like all that was missing was the Cheshire Cat.
Deciding to switch things up with my outfit by not taking the expected Alice look and choosing instead to go in theme dressed as the White Rabbit, my outfit came so perfectly all together with my customized bunny headband from Deepa Gurnani and floral jumpsuit from Princess Polly. The day could only be topped by the perfection of my Sweet Lady Jane red velvet cake that made turning 26 all that much sweeter.
If this year’s birthday celebrations are a symbolic reference as to what the year ahead will hold, I can’t wait to take on 26!
