Monday will mark a monumental day for fashionistas all over the world– the series finale of Gossip Girl. As a long time Gossip Girl book fan and an avid follower of the TV series since its premiere in 2007, this finale will mark not only a bittersweet moment in television, but one in the fashion world alike. Gossip Girl was filled with intriguing plots, good looking cast members, and the best fashion style to ever hit the airwaves. From Chuck Bass‘ dapper suit swagger that put every boy to shame, to Jenny Humphrey’s rockstar look that I strived to portray, to Serena van der Woodsen’s constant and effortless boho chic beauty that was always astonishing to see; each week viewers were introduced to looks and outfits that everyone tuned in for. But of all the cast members that came in and out of the show, it was Blair Waldorf that always stole the spotlight. She brought headbands back into the scene in a big way, proving to girls all over the world (including myself) that these head accessories are here to stay. The style portrayed by Blair or fittingly called “Queen B” on the show was always such an inspiration to me that over time, I saw her style slowly starting to creep into my own ensembles and looks. When I was putting together today’s outfit, the romper, blazer and heels were quickly chosen together. But yet, I felt like something was still missing. Rummaging through my headband drawer, I came across this jeweled one that I rarely wear. I typically wear headbands that go across my forehead, not down the middle, so when I made this purchase a while back, I bought it in hopes of channeling my inner Blair–encouraged that I too could pull off the look.
Come Monday when everyone will be looking to say their last goodbyes and hopefully find out who the real Gossip Girl has been all this time (my money’s on Dorota!), I will be looking to have my final moments with the cast and fashion that has truly affected our world today. Gossip Girl may end after next week, but Queen B and the rest of the ensemble cast’s styles will live on.
You Know You Love Them,
xoxo Lainey
