Just a few weeks ago I was having a very in-depth conversation about the importance of one thing… scents. At first, I thought this talk was absurd. I mean, how important can a scent really be? But then as the person was explaining it to me more, it instantly clicked, and in actuality, made total sense to me. When you smell a familiar scent, the first thing that happens is that you get instantly transported. Transported back to the thoughts of a loved one– a family member, a boyfriend, a girlfriend, a best friend. You see… what I came to realize as I was talking to this person is that a scent is not something that you just throw on to add to your overall ensemble– in actuality, it becomes a symbolization and depiction of you.
So it seemed that in the nick of perfect timing of my newfound epiphany, Jessica Simpson’s new fragrance came my way. On top of having an amazing voice and array of songs that I still love to belt out, it’s been so impressive to see how Jessica Simpson has built (and is continuing to build on) a whole empire of equally impressive clothes, accessories, perfumes and more. They say don’t judge a book by its cover (or in this case a perfume by its packaging), but how can you not instantly fall in love with this new fragrance just by its lavendery-pink shade and gold feathered detailed bottle cap alone? This latest perfume symbolizes Jessica’s personal journey through life and love of American style with many thought out details in every inch of the collection including the feather bottle cap top which symbolizes her theme of spiritual evolution.
Subtle yet impactful, the scent took me to an aroma combination of a floral field mixed with an earthy tone texture and a side of vanilla (which is always my favorite must-have ingredient in a perfume!).Thefirst time I smelled the fragrance, it instantly took me back to my mother’s perfume collection—reminding me of when I was a little girl who would always want to emulate my mother’s scents. A mixture between sweet/ playful and mature/sophisticated, this new fragrance made me feel like Goldilocks & the Three Bears—the scent was neither too little nor too much, but instead, just right.
With a beautiful ad campaign shot in Simi Valley, CA symbolizing her spiritual evolution, I got inspired for today’s shoot to incorporate the perfume in a way that symbolized me and my idea of sophistication and romanticism– with florals of course.
