What a special occasion it is to be an attendee watching some of the greatest shows of the season at New York Fashion Week. Yet, what an even greater moment it is when you get to be apart of the backstage hustle of some of those same great shows. The clothes, the hair, the nails, and especially the makeup, all these elements come together in full-swing leading up to the big unveil of the new collections. Teaming up with M.A.C. Cosmetics during New York Fashion Week, I got to take a peek into what really goes down at some of the most exciting shows including Desigual and Hood By Air. Starting off the mornings with the head M.A.C. Cosmetics artist showing the rest of the team how to pull off and mimic the makeup look of the show, we got to see the thought process, story, and inspiration that went behind each makeup look and feel. With Hood By Air, it was all inspired by that look of getting “cold”– accenting and highlighting the bone structures to give a bruise type look in hues of red and purple. Whereas for Desigual, it was all about keeping simplicity and using the makeup to highlight and accent the girls’ natural beauties. From interviews to fun interactive props (like the word bubbles Desigual had as apart of their show) to pump up music playing in the background, the air of excitement, fashion, and Spring/Summer 2015 was definitely felt in the air at both shows.
