I can’t believe another New York Fashion Week has come and gone and I was lucky enough to be there yet again for it first hand! It’s crazy to say that this was my FOURTH season in New York for it– I think I can totally call myself a NYFW Veteran at this point. While my Fashion Week adventures were short lived since I was only able to be there for the first few days, I think I can safely say though that I handled all that was there and more during my time there.
I stayed in the cutest little Air BNB in the NoHo area which was perfect to get me to everywhere I needed to run around to throughout town (but if you followed my daily adventures on Snapchat: @iamfashionlaine you saw the major stair fiasco I had getting my two HEAVY luggages up and down four flights because there was no elevator– so that struggle was DEFINITELY real.)
While Fashion Week officially started on a Thursday, I decided to take a red-eye that Tuesday night to get there on Wednesday because I kicked off my fashion adventures with Macy’s Fashion’s Front Row Wednesday night! It took place at Madison Square Garden which I have always dreamt of going to since I’m such a huge music fanatic and Madison Square Garden is one of the most iconic concert venues there is! The night was hosted by Giuliana Rancic and Brad Goreski, included performances by Ariana Grande and Flo Rida, and showcased all of the best brands that Macy’s has to offer including Tommy Hilfiger, Betsey Johnson, William Rast, INC International Concepts, and more. And after the show was over, I partied the night away with one of my fave blogger babes Naty Michele at Macy’s iconic flagship store on Herald Square for the official after party which included all the amazing guests and designers from the show (including my a bump-in I had with my fashion spirit animal and icon Betsey Johnson). Plus, I got to see an exclusive performance by Salt N Peppa (throwback right?!). I was so honored that Tommy Hilfiger sent me an outfit to wear that night because who wouldnt want to wear a little Tommy to a Tommy Hilfiger show? And it couldn’t have been anymore oh-so American chic!
I kicked off my Thursday, the first official day of Fashion Week, with Noon by Noor’s dreamy fashion show which included some of my other fave fashion icons like Alexa Chung. For Fashion Week, I think this is totally the time where you can pull out all the stops in your wardrobe and go a little crazier and more avant-garde with your looks than you typically would back home. So for my first official outfit of the day in New York, I decided to do a punk rock meets pink ladies vibe with the cutest pink bomber jacket from Valley High and tutu skirt dress. After Noon by Noor, my day then continued running around to some Fashion Week showrooms and events where I was able to get some fabulous little hair touch ups before heading off to probably one of my most favorite shows of Fashion Week– Desigual. They always have the best backstage experience that I get to experience with M.A.C. Cosmetics and the most lively runways (this year’s themed included the models makeup and hair being in theme of the different Snapchat selfie filters!). After my shows were over for the day, I met up with one of my other fave blogger babes Lex of Lexicon of Style where I did a little outfit change before we did some night party hopping. We first stopped by Maybelline’s Fashion Week kick off event that was LIT (…literally though! they had glow in the dark swinging chairs) where we saw ambassador and gorg model Adriana Lima. And then we finished up the night at NYLON Magazine’s Disney Style party where Hailee Seinfeld and Tyga jumped on stage to perform. And obvi it wouldn’t have been a party without an appearance by King Kylie Jenner.
Official Day 2 of Fashion Week (even though now Day 3 for me) continued with a fun Twiggy meets 70’s meets Chiquita Banana vibe outfit of the day (as I dubbed that day’s look). While it may not have looked it, it was definitely humid in New York, so the staying cool while trying to look aesthetically pretty in photos was definitely a struggle but I think I was able to maintain it for most of the day. I started off the morning heading to the cutest little brunch at the Yotel hosted by my girl Kristin Clark (that made it onto BuzzFeed may I add –> here) and then headed to the Conair beauty lounge to get the perfect like braid updo before heading to the Nicole Miller show that evening. Switching up the game and changing my outfit to this amazing feathery top and oxblood red long skirt from Nicole Miller, I was ready to take on my adventures for a good New York Friday night.
Last but not least, the Saturday of New York Fashion Week! I decided to yet again switch up the vibe of my look of the day–bringing a little nerdy action paired with an all-white number and accented in metallic themed vibes. I’m alllll about comfort so I was really into pairing my outfits of the days with flats and cute sneakers instead of heels if I could since I knew I was going to be constantly running around town throughout my travels. The day started off with me checking out Rebecca Minkoff’s show which literally shut down the streets of NYC to create their fabulous runaway and then I headed to Banana Republic’s presentation where I wanted everything all the live models were wearing and more.
The week was sooo much fun and I wish I could do it all over again. But I guess I’ll just have to wait until freezing February to head back– or maybe just fly straight to Paris’s Fashion Week coming up? 😉
