Spring has been in the air and that means a bunch of cleaning, or in my case, some Spring updates on the blog! Last week I announced the official launch of my YouTube channel (if you haven’t seen my first vid, you must check it out!) and today I take on my new exciting role of adding a little food blogging! If you follow me on Instagram (@iamfashionlaine), you see that I definitely have my fair share of eating outings. It seems like now everyone I know looks to me for suggestions of where to go and places to eat so I decided it was about time to take the plunge and capture my dining experiences in depth for everyone!
Today first dining adventures transports you to Paris, France…. Just kidding, this is in LA but it totally transported me to Paris! Over the summer, I went on my first trip to France and immersed in the fabulous city of love, architecture.. and food! Everyone had told me to visit the most well-known steak and frites restaurant there, and that’s exactly what I did. One of the most popular restaurants in town, I remember how packed that place was, with always a one hour wait to get seated. Coming back home, that place always had always left a lingering memory for me, wishing that there could be something remotely similar to it here in LA. And alas, my dreams have finally been met!
L’Assiette Steak Frites has totally brought in that feel of my Parisian ways right here on Melrose. Yet, what’s so wonderful about this restaurant is that for all those food lovers who want other options than steak, there’s plentiful for you to choose from. My meal started off with the “Salade Maison Au Saumon” which typically I’d say I’m not a salmon-salad kind of girl but the sauce of the salmon mixed with this salad they created actually ended up being one of my top favorite dishes from the day. The salmon tartar was next which provided me with another easy and light appetizer starter with cute little crackers to go with the dish. And of course, for the main dish, you have to get the streak frites (which was cooked and cut well, and how amazing does it look with the sauce?). But what was exciting for me was to be able to try out their well-known portobello frites which was a great alternative for any of those who are vegetarian or don’t want meat.
Of course, already stuffed and full at this point, who can even think about having dessert? On the contrary, if there’s anything you shouldn’t skip out on with this meal, it’s definitely just that. Getting both the Beignet-Style Profiterols (puff pastries, filled with ice cream, topped with hot chocolate sauce) and the Marianne’s Amaretto Cake (served over a bed of creme anglaise), they were both melt in your mouth amazingness, I could even come back there for just dessert!
With a price point that is well worth it and an ambiance and vibe that’s new and cool, this place is definitely one place to check out (with some friends, for a date, or some late night food!)
