It’s been award season madness here in LA the past two months with everything from the Golden Globes, to the SAG Awards, Grammys, and now the Oscars coming up this weekend. So there was no more perfect way in my mind to kick off Oscars week than with being able to attend the Costume Design Guild Awards with Lacoste at the Beverly Hilton this past Tuesday. Being at the awards and seeing all of these costume designers, really artists in their own crafts, getting awarded and acknowledged for all the hard and really (wha I think) as unappreciated hard work, I feel like that night, I really got to see first hand what thought really goes into the wardrobe actors wear in film, TV shows, and even commercials. We don’t necessarily think about the role one’s wardrobe plays as we’re watching a film or show, but it’s that effortless talent that these costume designers have to translate a character so easily with the simplicity of their wardrobe that makes that actor’s character what is and more. If you saw on my snapchat @iamfashionlaine (I’ve dropped in two videos below from my snap for you to check out!), I got to see some of my fave fashionistas from Kate Beckinsale to Krysten Ritter hit the stage and got to see Quentin Tarantino and Cate Blanchett both get honored with awards. The night was too much fun, and I think I can definitely say that I left there appreciating the art of fashion even more.
