My Go-To European Travel Bag

Whenever I'm traveling, there are a few important pieces that come to mind for must-haves in terms of packing. Comfy shoes, chic clothes, and enough storage space on my cell phone to take all the photos I want from my trip to last for a lifetime. Yet, there's one other crucial component and packing essential that I always keep at the top of my mind as a necessity for what to pack and need to take with-- my travel bag for all my adventures.

Especially now that I am a blogger and have to pack up on extra things on the daily like my big DSLR camera and a huge battery pack to charge my phone with throughout the day, I need a bag that can take on all I need to carry and more. Therefore, when I was getting ready to jetset on my European travels these past two weeks, I was super excited that I was able to find an accessories brand that checked off all of my travel bag requirements-- Patricia Nash. If you saw all of my Instagrams (@iamfashionlaine), both this backpack featured in today's post along with the crossbody purse were the two bags I had with me at all times throughout my trip. Not only were they big enough to hold all I needed to carry and more, but the quality of the leather was perfect to stand the test of time against any weather that hit my way on this trip.

See my European Haul video here for a full breakdown of what I packed if you haven't already!

Taking Chances

Something that I can definitely say about myself is that I'm not afraid to try something new with my wardrobe. Forcing myself to think outside of the box, I strive to put together different and unique combinations and outfits that allow me to show off the different sides of me. Many of times people say phrases to me like "only you would wear that", which at first I wasn't sure if "that" was a good or bad thing. But over time, instead of taking statements like those as negative ones, I started taking them in as the hugest of compliments, believing my style to be unique and different compared to those around me, which I always strive to do. While things like floral pastel leggings and silver metallic Air Jordan 1s combined together can very easily go from hit to miss, I'm not scared to test out the waters and see what happens. I sometimes get stuck in my ways, trying to figure out a solution to pairing my obscure purchases like these pastel florals with the rest of the items in my closet because you can't just wear them with anything. Therefore, being creative and fitting all your pieces together takes some time and takes some art. On a day like this where it was a little chilly outside and I knew I wanted to wear something warm, I had the idea to pull the leggings together with a maroon colored TOMs sweater along with my favorite Jordans and ear cuffs to add that extra umph and swag which ended up creating an outfit that I was was completely in love with-- reaffirming my belief that sometimes, it's okay to take chances.

A Louie Kinda Day

Happy Tuesday Fashionlainers! Hope you all had a great and relaxing President's Day weekend. I'm sure like many of you, I am constantly on the go, running from one errand or task to another--not having too much time to just relax and hang out. So when this President's Day weekend snuck up so casually upon me and almost out of the blue, I kept wondering to myself "what am I going to do with all this three day weekend time?!"  So of course, yesterday had to consist of a day venturing to the very rarely visited Downtown neighborhood and a lunch at one of my all-time favorite restaurants, Bottega Louie. Very much a throwback to a Dean & Deluca New York feel, this restaurant which feels almost out of place amongst its neighboring stores and bars, is one of the ultimate places to dine with yummy pizzas that are to die for and the tastiest french macarons that are so pretty that you don't want to ruin. The look I went for with my outfit was dressy casual, pairing a simple dress with an oversized sweater, and tieing it together with my favorite sneaker wedges that have officially become my obsession go-to shoes of the moment. A perfect outfit for a perfect Louie kinda day.
