"You HAVE to meet my friend Cara!" is how the conversation began as a mutual friend of ours proceeded to inviting me to the celebration of the launch of her blog. And as the old saying goes, it was all history from there, as I instantly became a fan of Cara Santana's newly launched blog "CaraDisclothed", a fan of her amazing style, and of course, a fan of Cara herself. That night she was wearing this super adorable pink dress with the perfect booties and bun having "the ultimate fashionista" practically written all over it. Yet, it was once I got to talking to Cara that it truly became all clear that she exuded the triple S package: sweet, smart, and stylish. You always wish for your fave fashionistas who seem to make it onto your best dressed list from every red carpet event (like here, here, and here) to share their wisdom, insight, and style with you on the daily. And thankfully with this new day and age of blogging, we are blessed with the opportunity to have that become a reality to which Cara is now granting to me and many others. With her fun blog that takes us into a day in her life and gives us all the behind the scenes looks and thought processes about what goes into putting together her super stylish outfits for anything from major events to red carpet looks to her simple everyday on-the-go style, CaraDisclothed becomes an addicting website that keeps making you want more. I was lucky enough to get a chance to meet up with Cara in between all the craziness of this award season rush to do this super adorable shoot (like.... how amazing is this outfit?) as well as get all the deetz on her and everything fashion.

Fashionlaine: What inspired you to start this blog? Cara Santana: I loved the idea of opening a dialogue on fashion. It's fun and I found it insightful to articulate why we decide to wear what we wear and why we put together what we did. Self expression in the form of individual style is compelling and I found so many people interested in having that conversation.

FL: How'd you come up with the name CaraDisclothed? CS: I've had so many people ask me what I'm wearing and why, so I thought the play on words was not only clever, but appropriate!

FL: How would you describe your style? CS: My style is always evolving and dependent on so much. But if I had to list 3 adjectives I'd say: feminine, edgy and modern.

FL: Who would you consider as your fashion inspirations? CS:  I'm constantly inspired daily by women who are daring and exude confidence and express themselves freely, who wear what they want to wear and have no inhibition about being who they are. The biggest risk takers of history are the most revered from Coco Chanel and Karherine Hepburn to Jackie O and Audrey Hepburn. And similarly, I feel like the modern muses are girls who dare to be different. My friend Nicole Richie never conforms, but knows how to masterfully put an outfit together that is fashion forward and stylish and is so unique in her approach. Olivia Palmero has the art of mixing and matching down to a chic T! And, Kate Bosworth patented the "effortlessly glam" look. They're all individual and true to themselves and I'm inspired by that. And the girls that I'm excited by that have been turning my head is Naomie Harris and Rose Byrne. I love seeing what they're going to wear next and I'm always intrigued and impressed!

FL: What pieces in your closest can you currently not live without? CS: My vintage Chanel bag and black Alexander Wang tee.

FL: What's your favorite part about having a blog? CS: Having a voice and a forum where anyone who wants to as well can! I love hearing what people have to say about fashion. I love making the conversation accessible.

FL: Are there any exciting projects or posts that fans and readers can look forward to in 2014? CS: We have Fashion Week coming up and Award season that has been going on, so definitely keep reading!

Golden Globes: The Parties

Golden Globes PartiesGBK

Awards season. It's probably the most wonderful time of the year (well...between that and Christmas). And while many spend weeks leading up to the biggest award ceremonies like the Golden Globes prepping outfits, speeches, and catching up on movies, TV, and more-- there's one other part of it all that is equally essential-- the parties. Pre-parties, after parties, gifting suites, luncheons, and more, this week Los Angeles was filled with celebrations honoring all of your favorite actors, writers, directors, and so forth in TV and Film that as my adventures on Instagram (@iamfashionlaine) showed, I got an exclusive insider peek to share with all of you.

It all began last Thursday when Miss Golden Globe Sosie Bacon (daughter of Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick) helped officially kick off the Globes by rolling out the red carpet at the iconic and beautiful Beverly Hilton. Celebrating her reign as this year's Miss Golden Globe, the Hollywood Foreign Press hosted a luncheon in Sosie's honor which consisted of the perfect meal, the perfect drinks (we got to taste the first ever official Golden Globes cocktail called the “Moët Golden Night" whipped up by celebrity chef Aida Mollenkamp) and the perfect convos with the adorable Sosie about her excitement on presenting at the show. Taking that excitement and celebrations all the way through the weekend and the nights, LA was filled with back to back pre-parties all around town honoring the biggest and greatest. Yet it was Audi and their annual party at Cecconi's that stole the weekend for me as the best pre-party of the Globes. From Naomi Watts and Liev Schreiber sitting intimately in a corner catching up with some friends to Karina Smirnoff breaking it down on the dance floor, anyone that was anyone was at this party-- making it into one of those parties that you just didn't want to leave even when the lights turned on. But of course, with great parties also come great presents (and gifting suites). From L'Ermitage Hotel in Beverly Hills and the GBK and Pilot Pen Luxury Gift Lounge featuring brands including Yoplait, airweave, The Wine Room, Burke Williams Spa, GUARDaHEART, and more to the SLS Hotel and the Secret Room Style Lounge benefiting PETA, the weekend was not complete until hitting up a suite and getting some of the best goodies and treats to complete all last minute award essentials and needs. And then, last but not least, one can't forget about the after parties right after the Globes. Hitting the Beverly Hilton back up again just a few days after a calm luncheon with Sosie, the Hilton was now filled with celebs, fans, security, and more-- everyone hustling about the hotel, throughout the staircases, elevators, and lobby, doing some serious party hopping. From the InStyle party that everyone would agree was popping from beginning to end, to the iconic HBO and NBC parties that were always a stopping-by must, to of course the Weinstein party that is without a doubt known to always be a guaranteed good time, the Hilton definitely had its work cut off for itself last night. Yet, I think it was really the super exclusive Diddy party at the soon to be opened 1Oak on Sunset, away from it all and the Hilton, that was surprisingly (or I guess not surprisingly because it's Diddy) the biggest and best party of them all. With Diddy standing on a table MC'ing the night away and making shout outs to his friends in the crowd including Usher, Ray J, Joaquin Phoenix, and the whole cast of "The Wolf of Wall Street", I think it's safe to say, there was never a dull moment in Hollywood this weekend.
