Bringing Sexy Back

sequin spring dress A few weeks back I went to a few Oscar events where I needed to find the perfect outfits for the perfect events. I was looking for the cutest cocktail chic dress and was having a hard time finding the one that I liked. But suddenly at a certain point I came across this sequin dress that instantly made me fall in love (....because let's be real, who doesn't love anything that has sequins and a shoulder pad?). But what really sold me in was not the front, but the back. There's just something about a low back that makes an outfit an instant winner to me. And as I was pairing all the details of my outfit together trying to find the best shoes and clutch to go with it, all that I was confident about was that I really wanted to focus and highlight my fave part of this dress... the back. So I layered on a few necklaces from my fave brand Nissa Jewelry and threw it on in the back to finalize the perfect touches for one of my fave looks.

#OwnIt: The Hipster Chick

What I love about fashion is that there are so many ways one can individualize a certain trend or outfit to make it their own. Two people can walk into a room wearing the same dress, yet it's a matter of how they wear it and own it that sets them apart from each other. 2014 is the perfect time to experiment with new trends, shapes, and styles, and in lieu of one of my favorite online shops, Boohoo, and their new #OwnIt collection which focuses on new shapes and how to wear them, I decided to join in on the fun and show you how I #OwnIt! Setting the location of the shoot at one of my absolute new favorite places in Los Angeles, the newly opened Ace Hotel, the setting, architecture, and ambiance was perfect for this hipster inspired shoot. As I love dresses (and especially when I can make them a little baggy), I decided to show you how I work it with the drop down waist dress trend. With knee high socks, Superga sneakers, and a little top hat action, I call today's hipster fashion look "The Hipster Chick".

Share your look on Instagram with the hashtag #OwnIt and you could win a new Boohoo wardrobe!

Ever since I was little (since 1995 when the Spice Girls did their big US Tour [without Ginger Spice *sigh*] at The Great Western Forum [before the time of the Staples Center]  to be exact), I've been in love with concerts. There's just something about seeing your favorite band or singer live that can never compare to what you see of them on TV or YouTube.  From tiny and intimate settings to nosebleed or front row seats at an arena, I've experienced my fave artists in probably every way possible. That is until this past Tuesday rolled around when I got to experience one of the greatest performers of our time with what has been said as one of the greatest concerts of this year-- Beyonce and the "Mrs. Carter World Tour". Hearing high raves and reviews about Mrs. Carter's show (which was 100% epic), what could only be paired with the immensity of greatness of this tour was simply with the way in which I got to watch it. One of the UK’s fastest growing and prominent internet retailers, boohoo.com, took over the Hyde Lounge at Staples Center on Tuesday, filling the space with everything from Beyonce themed chocolate bars and popcorn to mannequins showing their latest and greatest from their Holiday 2013 collection.  Making its way and name in the US, this extremely popular UK-based brand has everything on their site from exclusive staple and statement pieces to amazing shoes and accessories for anyone, any occasion, and any budget.  With your fave fashionistas like Kelly Osbourne, Molly Sims, Zoe Saldana, and Whitney Port all in toe, I don't think there was a more perfect way for any fashion lover to take in and enjoy Queen Bey.
